Africa Travel Week, marking its significant 10th anniversary in 2024, has unveiled an exciting schedule for the upcoming WTM Africa event, slated for 7-12 April in Cape Town. The 2024 edition promises growth and opportunities in the tourism sector, reflecting the optimism of the current landscape. Under the guidance of Megan De Jager, Portfolio Director at RX Africa, the event aims to surpass its previous records, including a notable increase in exhibitor numbers to 577 in 2023 from 384 in 2022.
This year’s program is rich with both traditional favourites and new initiatives. Highlights include festival-style celebrations featuring wine tastings and live performances, the introduction of Brain Box for interactive industry discussions, and the Sustainability Village showcasing responsible tourism. The event also celebrates its partnership with the City of Cape Town and introduces a new collaboration with the Tourism Investment Forum Africa (TIFA).
Key moments to look forward to are keynote speeches by Harold Goodwin, a Global Travel Hall of Fame Academy inductee, and the hosting of the Responsible Tourism Conference and Awards.
The event will also focus on expanding markets, including a dedicated Chinese buyer program and a partnership with IGLTA Foundation for EQUAL Africa, targeting the LGBTQ+ community. Additional partnerships with notable entities like Recycled Flip Flop Sculptures Studio, Southern Sun, Lift Airlines, and Gold Restaurant aim to enhance networking opportunities and ensure a memorable and fruitful experience for all attendees.
