Air Arabia introduces new direct flights to Jazan, Saudi Arabia

Air Arabia has resumed its flight service from Sharjah International Airport to Jazan, Saudi Arabia, according to the airline. This service, consisting of three flights per week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, is facilitated by the airline’s Airbus A321 aircraft.

The outbound flight, identified as G9 398, is scheduled to leave Sharjah at 2:20 PM, arriving at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport at 4:15 PM. The return flight, G9 399, will depart from Jazan at 4:55 PM, reaching Sharjah at 8:45 PM. Adel Al Ali, the CEO of Air Arabia, emphasized the airline’s commitment to enhancing its service offerings in crucial markets, notably between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, underscoring its objective to provide consistent access to key destinations for its customers.

Air Arabia, recognized as the largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa, boasts a fleet of 73 A320 and A321 neo-LR aircraft. It operates from seven hubs situated in the UAE, Egypt, Morocco, Armenia, and Pakistan, serving a wide array of regional and international destinations.

The airline has been focusing on expanding its network, recently introducing direct flights to various cities including Basra in Iraq, Kraków in Poland, and Athens in Greece. Additionally, plans for Air Arabia Maroc, the airline’s Moroccan hub, to launch four new routes from Tetouan starting March 31 were announced. These new routes aim to connect Tetouan with cities such as Barcelona, Malaga, Brussels, and Madrid, enhancing travel options in the region.

In terms of financial performance, Air Arabia reported significant growth in 2023, with revenue reaching $1.6 billion (AED 6 billion), marking a 14% increase from the prior year’s $1.4 billion (AED 5.2 billion). The net profit for the airline stood at $408 million (AED 1.5 billion), up 27% from $326 million (AED 1.2 billion) in 2022.

The airline also experienced a 31% rise in passenger traffic, with a total of 16.7 million passengers. At the recent Annual General Meeting, Air Arabia’s shareholders approved a 20% cash dividend for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023.
