AirAsia is expanding its extensive network in India, revealing the eagerly anticipated resumption of direct flights to Visakhapatnam, making it the sole Malaysian airline with this direct route to the city.

Starting from April 26, 2024, AirAsia will operate flights to Visakhapatnam three times a week. Often referred to as ‘Vizag,’ this city, situated in the Bay of Bengal, is an undiscovered gem in India. With its lush landscapes, historical landmarks, and vibrant traditional festivals, Visakhapatnam offers a multitude of exploration opportunities. Noteworthy for its mouth-watering Andhra cuisine and captivating beaches along the coastline, the city is a haven for thalassophiles. Tourists also flock to witness the iconic ‘Dolphin Hill,’ a towering hill visible from almost every part of the city.

To celebrate the launch of this new route, flights to Visakhapatnam are now on sale until February 14, 2024, with a starting fare of just RM199* one-way. The fare from Visakhapatnam to Kuala Lumpur is only INR4,999*, applicable for travel between April 26, 2024, and March 19, 2025. Plan your journey with AirAsia through the airasia Superapp.

Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, Bo Lingam expressed his excitement, saying: “AirAsia is thrilled to continue this celebratory momentum of growing connectivity in one of our biggest international markets ‒ India ‒ as we continue to make travel more affordable and accessible to all. A direct route to Visakhapatnam is a core  part of our expansion plans and we’re delighted that it is  taking off at an opportune time for AirAsia, marking our fourth and counting new route to India this year. We look forward to connecting travellers to this majestic city that is immersed in rich culture as well as enchanting natural wonders.  Similarly,  we look forward to flying travellers from the city who are keen to visit Kuala Lumpur which links affordably to other parts of Malaysia, South East Asia and further afield on our vast network.

“This expansion reflects our dedication to providing seamless and inexpensive travel options, linking different people to different cultures. As we progress into 2024 and with hopes for a wonderful year for travel ahead, AirAsia will be looking to further expand our presence in India and allow for more affordable connectivity between our two nations and beyond.”

In addition to the Visakhapatnam route, AirAsia recently announced three more new routes to India scheduled to commence this year: Thiruvananthapuram in February, Jaipur in April, and Ahmedabad in May. The airline, along with its sister, AirAsia X, serves six cities in South India and two cities in North India.
