airBaltic joyfully received its 46th Airbus A220-300 jet, bearing the registration YL-ABT, at its home base in Riga. This marks the seventh delivery of an Airbus A220-300 to airBaltic in 2023, contributing to the fulfillment of the airline’s order for a total of 50 Airbus A220-300 aircraft. Additionally, airBaltic has solidified its commitment to expanding its fleet by securing a firm purchase agreement for an additional 30 Airbus A220-300 planes, along with purchase rights for an extra 20 of the same type.

To date, airBaltic has impressively transported over 13,441,000 passengers aboard the Airbus A220-300, with these aircraft completing more than 150,000 flights and accumulating 328,000 block hours of flight time.

Since May 2020, airBaltic has strategically operated all its flights using a singular aircraft type, the Airbus A220-300, streamlining operations for increased efficiency. The Airbus A220-300 has exceeded expectations, showcasing superior overall performance, fuel efficiency, and passenger and staff convenience. Noteworthy features of this aircraft include wider seats, larger windows, enhanced cabin hand luggage space, improved lavatories, and more.

Furthermore, the Airbus A220-300 distinguishes itself by its significantly reduced noise levels, boasting a noise footprint only half the size of its predecessor. It currently stands as the world’s most efficient commercial aircraft, with a transparent declaration of its life-cycle environmental impact. This commitment to sustainability translates to a remarkable 25% reduction in CO2 emissions and a 50% reduction in NOX emissions compared to previous-generation aircraft and industry standards.
