airBaltic, the Latvian national airline, has unveiled its winter season 2023 plans, featuring the introduction of four new destinations from Tampere. The upcoming winter schedule will see airBaltic offering fresh routes to Tenerife (Spain), Gran Canaria (Spain), Tallinn (Estonia), and, notably, a debut domestic route from Tampere to Kittilä in Finland.

Thomas Ramdahl, Senior Vice President of Network Management at airBaltic, expressed the airline’s commitment to providing seamless travel experiences and enhancing connectivity for passengers. The newly introduced routes aim to offer travelers diverse options, from warmer climates to snowy slopes and urban getaways. Ramdahl extended gratitude to Tampere’s partners for their collaboration, emphasizing the positive trend in airBaltic’s market share growth in the region.

Mari Nurminen, Vice President of Central and Eastern Airports and Director of Tampere Airport at Finavia, welcomed the addition of airBaltic’s four new routes. She highlighted the benefits of enhanced travel options and the significant contribution to Tampere’s global connectivity. Notably, the direct route from Tampere to Kittilä marks a milestone in airBaltic’s network within Finland, aligning perfectly with the peak winter holiday season.

Harri Airaksinen, CEO of Business Tampere, emphasized the appeal of direct travel to Gran Canaria from Tampere-Pirkkala, emphasizing the ecological and comfortable aspects of the journey. Recognizing airBaltic’s role in providing travel comfort and diverse services, Airaksinen welcomed travelers from Pirkanmaa and neighboring areas to experience sun-filled escapes directly from Tampere-Pirkkala.

Flights between Tampere and Gran Canaria are estimated to take 6 hours and 30 minutes. Alongside the new routes, airBaltic has increased flight frequency between Tampere and Amsterdam, establishing daily connections between the two cities.

All the new routes will be serviced by Airbus A220-300 aircraft, renowned for its efficiency. The A220-300 offers passengers wider seats, larger windows, increased cabin hand luggage space, improved lavatories, and overall enhanced performance, fuel efficiency, and convenience for both passengers and staff.

AirBaltic already operates direct flights from Tampere to Copenhagen and Amsterdam, as well as to sunny leisure destinations like Malaga and Rhodes, in addition to ongoing flights to Riga.

With a network spanning over 100 routes from Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, and Tampere, airBaltic provides extensive connections to destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region.
