To create host capacity in all the unexplored places and directing the travellers to explore the lesser-known gems by diverting their attention from the popular ones, Airbnb has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board. This partnership throws light on the shared commitment to conserving the cultural heritage of the state along with its natural beauty, and exclusive traditions, while encouraging responsible and mindful practices related to travel in the state, which lifts up the local communities further while offering enriching experiences for the travellers.
The main elements of this MoU include:
Capacity Building – In the selected pilot locations, Airbnb will start capacity building activities to improve the standards of local hospitality, holding best practices, and responsible hosting. For a selected group of ‘model hosts,’ workshops will be organized who will give their knowledge and expertise then to other members of their community.
Onboarding homestays – The contract will aim on onboarding homestays onto the platform of Airbnb. Airbnb will carry on workshops in the recognized pilot destinations to train ‘model hosts’ on building their profiles, improving listing content, and taking gorgeous photographs to entice travelers.
Making a strong homestay ecosystem – Airbnb will carry on a detailed evaluation of homestay-specific breaches in the acknowledged pilot destinations and share its valuation with UTDB.
