In 2023, Airbus achieved robust performance by delivering 735 commercial aircraft to 87 customers worldwide, demonstrating resilience in a challenging operational landscape. The Commercial Aircraft business secured 2,319 gross new orders (2,094 net), resulting in a year-end backlog of 8,598 aircraft.

Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus, commented on the significant accomplishments of the Commercial Aircraft business in 2023, citing exceptional sales and deliveries that exceeded targeted expectations. Faury attributed this success to factors such as the enhanced flexibility and capability of the global industrial system and the strong demand from airlines seeking to update their fleets with Airbus’ modern and fuel-efficient aircraft. He expressed gratitude to customers, supplier partners, and the entire Airbus team for their contributions to this remarkable achievement.

Christian Scherer, the newly appointed CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, highlighted the unexpected early and robust return of both the single-aisle and widebody markets in 2023. Scherer commended the commercial and regional teams and expressed appreciation to customers for their trust and partnership. He noted record sales of A320s and A350s, as well as the addition of seven new customers for the A350-1000, signaling a resurgence in travel and substantial momentum. Scherer emphasized the positive impact on the environment with 735 more fuel-efficient Airbus jets in operation, contributing to a lower carbon future. He emphasized the importance of current orders in supporting investments in innovative and sustainable solutions for the future.

The announcement also noted that the 2023 full-year Financial Results would be disclosed on February 15, 2024.
