Airnorth has commenced its new non-stop service connecting Alice Springs and Perth, offering
passengers more accessibility between these two prominent Australian destinations. The Darwin-
based airline will operate three flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, utilizing
their E170 aircraft, thus increasing the inbound capacity by nearly 12,000 seats annually.
The introduction of this domestic service has garnered praise from Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti,
who emphasized the significance of enhancing connectivity between Western Australia and other
interstate tourism hubs like Alice Springs. Minister Saffioti expressed enthusiasm about leveraging
these new routes to attract visitors from various parts of the country, underscoring the collaborative
efforts between the WA Government, Perth Airport, and Airnorth to bolster aviation connectivity in
the region.
Airnorth’s Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Bowden, highlighted the airline’s commitment to
expanding its network, especially in Western Australia, as it marks over four decades in the aviation
industry. The new route not only enhances connectivity but also aligns strategically with the
anticipated dry season, catering to the rising demand for travel between Western Australia and the
Northern Territory.
Kate Holsgrove, Perth Airport’s Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer, emphasized the importance
of interstate visitation for Western Australia’s tourism sector. She expressed delight in facilitating
the new connection between Perth and Alice Springs, acknowledging the support from both Perth
Airport and the WA Government in fostering growth in aviation connections.
This new service signifies a significant milestone for both Airnorth and Perth Airport, as they
continue to contribute to the expansion and accessibility of air travel within Australia. With the
commencement of this direct route, travelers can look forward to seamless journeys between these
two iconic destinations, thereby enriching the overall travel experience.
