31 airports have received Airports Council International’s (ACI) Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards, with 27 from the Asia-Pacific region and 4 from the Middle East. These awards are based on a highly dependable global measurement and benchmarking program designed to assess airport customer experience.
The ASQ Program, developed in collaboration with the leading travel technology company Amadeus, is renowned as the premier airport customer experience measurement and benchmarking initiative worldwide. It is distinguished by its steadfast dedication to a rigorous and scientific methodology. Unlike other programs in the aviation industry, ASQ’s approach relies on real-time research conducted through surveys directly administered to passengers at the airport, effectively capturing their levels of satisfaction.
Among the 11 Indonesian airports honored, both Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport and Yogyakarta International Airport secured five out of six award categories. Salalah Airport in Oman emerged as the top performer among Middle Eastern airports, earning five awards. Additionally, China and India each have six airports recognized in this prestigious program.
Mr. Stefano Baronci, Director General, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, said: “From the East to the West, airports in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Republic of Korea, China, India, Oman, UAE and Jordan have excelled to provide a best-in-class service to their customers. Although the Asia-Pacific region has been the hardest hit by the pandemic, airports in the region have invested significantly in technology, human resources, and infrastructure to ensure that passengers continue to have a memorable and seamless experience.”
Additionally, five airports in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions have earned recognition on the ACI World Director General’s Roll of Excellence. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon airports that have consistently won multiple awards over a five-year span within the past decade as part of the ASQ program.
The ACI ASQ program stands as the foremost global benchmarking and measurement initiative for airport customer experience. Its surveys encompass more than 30 performance metrics spanning crucial aspects of the passenger journey, including navigation convenience, check-in processes, and the quality of shopping and dining options. This comprehensive methodology provides a complete perspective of the passenger experience at each airport, setting industry-wide benchmarks on a global scale.
