Allegiant Travel Company continues to redefine the landscape of domestic leisure travel with the recent unveiling of Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor. Situated on the Gulf Coast in Southwest Florida, this highly-anticipated hotel-resort spans over 22 waterfront acres and boasts 785 premier guestrooms.

This resort represents a significant milestone in Allegiant’s evolution as an integrated travel company, broadening the array of opportunities available to its customers and setting a new standard for the future of leisure travel.

Maurice J. Gallagher, the CEO and visionary behind Allegiant, conveyed the revolutionary essence of this initiative, affirming, “This serves as a catalyst propelling our sustained expansion as an integrated travel entity—a testament to the industry’s ability to evolve in delivering the desired products and services to our customers.”

Sunseeker now joins Allegiant’s extensive portfolio of ancillary products, including rental cars and professional sports packages. Allegiant has been selling hotel rooms to customers on behalf of third parties for over 18 years, with Gregory Anderson, Allegiant president, highlighting the airline’s role in pioneering the sale of ancillary products both inside and outside the airplane.

Anderson emphasized the importance of the Sunseeker Resort in providing more customer offerings through the airline’s ‘first-party’ integrated resort, marking a key milestone in their strategy.

The connection between the airline and hotel is reinforced by ALLWAYS Rewards, Allegiant’s aspirational loyalty program, allowing members to earn and redeem loyalty points across various services and amenities offered by Allegiant Travel Company.

Allegiant initially announced the Sunseeker Resort project in 2017, selecting Charlotte County, Fla., as the ideal location due to the airline’s growth and success in air travel in the area. With the opening of Sunseeker, Allegiant aims to enhance the travel experience for its customers, particularly the “Avid Travelers” who comprise a significant portion of the airline’s customer base.

The resort, with its world-class amenities, curated food and beverage brands, and retail shopping experience, aligns with the preferences of Allegiant’s customers. More than 85 percent of Allegiant’s customers prioritize lodging after purchasing airfare, and Sunseeker Resort offers a variety of leisure activities, making it a major attraction for travelers to Southwest Florida.

Allegiant’s presence in Florida has significantly expanded since its first destination in 2005, currently serving 10 cities and offering over 200 routes. The airline flies nearly 8 million leisure travelers in and out of Florida annually, generating over $2 billion in economic impact in the state. In addition to Punta Gorda, Allegiant operates flights from nearby airports, supporting nearly 21,000 jobs in Florida.

Sunseeker Resort is expected to create more than 1,000 permanent jobs in the Charlotte County area alone and is projected to attract an additional 300,000 visitors annually. Conservative estimates suggest up to $1 billion in economic impact over a ten-year horizon.

Beyond its food and beverage offerings, Sunseeker provides extensive meeting and event space, unique pool experiences, retail outlets, a state-of-the-art fitness center, spa, and the exclusive Aileron Golf Club. The resort is poised to offer a comprehensive and enriching experience for travelers to Southwest Florida.
