Alstom, a global frontrunner in intelligent and sustainable transportation, has successfully concluded the modernization and enhancement of 270 C20 model cars for the Stockholm metro, a venture initiated back in 2017. The final car has now exited the Västerås workshop, fully equipped for passenger service upon its return to Stockholm.

This modernization initiative underscores a commitment to environmental sustainability and cost efficiency through extensive material reuse. Furthermore, the interior has undergone a revamp, featuring an open layout and redesigned seating arrangements aimed at expediting passenger boarding and disembarking. Additionally, new passenger information systems have been integrated to elevate the overall passenger experience.

“For our operations in Västerås and for our local subcontractors, this project has been of significant importance, placing the Västerås workshop on the map internationally showing our expertise in the domain,” says Maria Signal Martebo, Managing Director of Alstom in Sweden.
