American Airlines is gearing up to rejuvenate its fleet at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, marking a significant upgrade in its travel services. The introduction of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner into its operations was initially spotted through Cirium schedules and later affirmed by a spokesperson from the airline, highlighting a strategic move to enhance travel experiences from its New York hub.
The transition to the new 285-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will commence on October 27, focusing initially on the New York to New Delhi route. This upgrade in aircraft will see the Boeing 777-300ER, which currently services this route, being phased out in favour of the more advanced Dreamliner model.
In line with its expansion strategy, American Airlines is planning a significant increase in the number of Dreamliners within its New York-based fleet, alongside a corresponding rise in the pool of pilots stationed in New York. An airline spokesperson detailed the adjustment, noting that the change in aircraft for the New York (JFK) to New Delhi (DEL) route this October is part of ongoing efforts to refine their network and fleet, ensuring continuous daily nonstop service on this pivotal route.
The airline’s future plans include the addition of about 30 Dreamliners to its existing fleet over the forthcoming years, with the first of these advanced aircraft expected to be operational later this year. The new planes will feature 51 Flagship Business suites, 32 premium economy seats, 18 Main Cabin Extra economy seats, and 143 standard economy seats, promising an enhanced travel experience for passengers.
Moreover, American Airlines has recently unveiled plans to either expand or introduce new services on up to 30 routes from its Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) base this coming summer, setting a record for its largest ever schedule from DFW.
