Auckland

Situated on the North Island of New Zealand, Auckland is a contemporary metropolis surrounded by breathtaking natural wonders and enriched by the influence of Polynesian culture. The fusion of Western practices with indigenous Māori traditions has given rise to a distinctive, world-class city. On January 21, 2017, Mr. David Miscavige, the ecclesiastical leader of Scientology, inaugurated New Zealand’s Ideal Scientology Church in Auckland, emphasizing the belief that their buildings serve as “vessels for life” and integral components of their communities.

Perched above the city and overlooking the stunning Waitemata Harbor, the site, initially established in 1844 as Trinity Methodist Theological College, played a role in training Christian theologians and missionaries.

The Church of Scientology meticulously preserved this heritage site in collaboration with local architects and preservationists. The architect advisor from Heritage New Zealand highlighted the appropriateness of this “heritage jewel” undergoing a “spiritual renaissance” as the new home of the Church of Scientology in Auckland.

New Zealand welcomed Scientology for the first time in 1955 when the Auckland congregation dedicated the world’s second Scientology Church; the first was established in Los Angeles in 1954.

As New Zealand Scientologists celebrate the anniversary of their Ideal Scientology Organization, they extend an invitation to people worldwide to join them by watching “Destination: Scientology—Auckland” on the Scientology Network. The episode provides an inside look into the Church and explores some of the island’s most breathtaking landscapes, showcasing why New Zealand is a coveted location for film and television production. Kaila, a Church staff member, remarks on the extraordinary land and emphasizes Scientology’s role in empowering the people who contribute to making Auckland a magical city.

Premiering in May 2023 on the Scientology Network, “Destination: Scientology—Auckland” takes viewers on a journey inside the Church, capturing the essence of the city and its surroundings. Since its launch in March 2018, the Scientology Network, introduced by Mr. David Miscavige, has reached audiences in 237 countries and territories, broadcasting in 17 languages.

Between 2020 and 2023, over 20 million new viewers were introduced to the Scientology Network, which has garnered 135 industry awards for the excellence of its programming. Satisfying the curiosity surrounding Scientology and its Founder L. Ron Hubbard, the network spans six continents, offering insights into the daily lives of Scientologists, showcasing the Church as a global organization, and presenting its social betterment programs that have positively impacted millions worldwide. Additionally, the network features documentaries by independent filmmakers representing diverse cultures and faiths, united by a common purpose of uplifting communities.

Broadcast from Scientology Media Productions, the Church’s global media center in Los Angeles, the Scientology Network is accessible on DIRECTV Channel 320, DIRECTV STREAM, AT&T U-verse, and can be streamed on scientology.tv, mobile apps, as well as via Roku, Amazon Fire, and Apple TV platforms.
