The Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) joined the OTM Mumbai 2024, India’s largest travel trade show held from February 8th to 10th, 2024. OTM Mumbai, renowned as the premier travel exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region, provides a vital platform for travel industry professionals and buyers in India to engage internationally. Azerbaijan, in collaboration with 17 industry partners including Azerbaijan Airlines, representatives from the hospitality sector, tour operators, and tourism agencies, showcased a diverse range of travel experiences. These experiences ranged from urban and wellness retreats at top-notch resorts to skiing adventures in the Caucasus Mountains, alongside the indulgence of delectable traditional cuisine.

Significant cultural and historical ties exist between Azerbaijan and India. Azerbaijan, with its rich history spanning 5000 years, offers a secure and family-friendly destination. Its diverse culture has evolved over the centuries, shaped by influences from travelers traversing the Great Silk Road. Ateshgah, the Fire Temple, exemplifies this heritage with its perpetual flames and Sanskrit inscriptions, cherished by 19th-century Hindu traders, drawing visitors with its allure.

The exhibition visitors were introduced to Azerbaijan’s numerous attractions, including UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Old City of Baku, the Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, the Sheki Historic Centre, and the recently inscribed Khinalig village and ‘Köç Yolu’ Transhumance Route. The cosmopolitan capital, Baku, offers a vibrant tapestry of urban experiences, ranging from museums and galleries to trendy bars serving local wines and delicacies, and an array of restaurants offering both traditional and international cuisines, along with a plethora of business event opportunities.

Azerbaijan shines as a top-tier venue primed to accommodate events of every magnitude, showcasing top-notch infrastructure including the esteemed Baku International Airport with its Skytrax 5-star rating, renowned chain hotels, iconic Flame Towers, and venues like the Baku Congress Centre and Heydar Aliyev Centre. With comprehensive amenities in place, Azerbaijan is readying itself to host COP29 and numerous other global events scheduled for this year.

For travelers from India, obtaining a visa to Azerbaijan is streamlined. They can apply for an e-Visa through evisa.gov.az at least three days before their intended arrival date, or opt for an urgent visa, processed within 3 to 5 hours. The visa is valid for 90 days, allowing Indian visitors to explore Azerbaijan for up to 30 days.
