G Adventures has introduced a new premium small-group travel concept called Away Games, marking a strategic expansion into football-led experiential tourism that combines live sport with destination discovery across Europe.

The launch arrives at a time when sports tourism continues to gain global momentum, with UN Tourism highlighting it as one of the fastest-growing segments in international travel. More travellers are now structuring entire trips around major sporting events, particularly football, where matchdays serve as anchors for broader cultural exploration.

Away Games has been designed as a fully integrated travel product that brings together match tickets, accommodation, hospitality access and curated local experiences within a single organised itinerary. The aim is to simplify international football travel while elevating it into a more immersive cultural journey that extends well beyond the stadium.

The first phase of the programme will begin in October 2026, featuring more than 30 departures across key football hubs including London, Manchester, Madrid and Barcelona. Scheduling will be aligned with domestic league calendars, with English fixtures following the Premier League structure and Spanish itineraries finalised after La Liga schedules are confirmed.

At the centre of each itinerary are matches involving some of Europe’s most widely followed clubs, including Fulham FC, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, Manchester City and Manchester United. Each trip is built around a flagship fixture that serves as the highlight of a broader cultural travel experience.

Matchday experiences within Away Games include premium seating arrangements, VIP hospitality access and curated dining options tailored to each stadium environment. Travellers also gain entry to selected behind-the-scenes areas such as players’ tunnels, dressing rooms, executive lounges and guided stadium tours, depending on the club and venue.

However, the programme is designed to extend far beyond match attendance. Each itinerary incorporates structured cultural exploration intended to connect travellers with the everyday football identity of each city. This includes visits to traditional supporter pubs, neighbourhood food scenes, street markets and local gathering points where matchday culture is most visible.

In London, the itineraries span multiple club environments, reflecting the city’s dense football landscape. Experiences are built around stadiums such as Stamford Bridge, Emirates Stadium, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Craven Cottage, each paired with curated local activities that highlight the character of surrounding districts.

The Fulham FC experience focuses on matchday access at Craven Cottage, offering premium seating alongside hospitality areas overlooking the Thames. Supporting activities include visits to historic riverside pubs and local food experiences that reflect the club’s community-oriented atmosphere.

The Tottenham Hotspur itinerary centres on Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, featuring executive seating, fine dining options and an in-depth stadium tour. The wider programme explores North London’s street food culture and supporter traditions that shape matchday energy in the area.

The Arsenal FC package combines Club Level access at the Emirates Stadium with lounge hospitality and behind-the-scenes tours. It also includes visits to neighbourhood markets and attendance at a lower-division match, offering contrast between elite and grassroots football environments.

The Chelsea FC itinerary at Stamford Bridge incorporates premium seating and curated hospitality experiences, including chef-led dining sessions. The broader experience highlights West London’s evolving culinary and cultural landscape alongside matchday participation.

In Manchester, the programme showcases two globally recognised football institutions. The Manchester City itinerary includes executive seating at the Etihad Stadium, access to premium lounges and immersive stadium tours, combined with exploration of the city’s Northern Quarter and its independent cultural scene.

The Manchester United experience at Old Trafford provides premium seating and access to key behind-the-scenes areas, including player facilities and pitchside zones. The itinerary also incorporates curated visits to supporter pubs and local dining venues that reflect the club’s deep historical connection with Manchester.

Across all destinations, Away Games incorporates additional football-related elements such as attendance at lower-league fixtures and guided cultural discussions that explore the sport’s role within local communities. These components are intended to deepen understanding of football as a social and cultural force, not just a professional sport.

Accommodation and transport are integrated into each package, with centrally located hotels selected for proximity to stadiums and key cultural districts. Travel logistics are managed as part of the itinerary structure to ensure seamless transitions between matchdays and scheduled activities.

By combining elite football access with neighbourhood-level cultural engagement, Away Games reflects a broader shift in travel behaviour where sport functions as both entertainment and a gateway to destination identity. The model prioritises shared experiences, community interaction and immersive storytelling over traditional event-based tourism.

Through this launch, G Adventures is positioning itself within a growing niche of experience-led travel, where passion-driven interests such as football shape how travellers explore cities and connect with local culture.
