Marriott unveils Bab Samhan Luxury Collection Hotel in Diriyah, blending timeless Najdi heritage with modern elegance in Saudi Arabia’s historic heart.

Marriott International has unveiled the highly anticipated Bab Samhan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, in Diriyah, an iconic location often referred to as the birthplace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Known for its rich cultural heritage and distinctive Najdi mudbrick architecture, Diriyah provides the perfect setting for this luxury retreat, designed to preserve and celebrate its historical essence.

Guests arriving at Bab Samhan are greeted with an array of traditional delights, including spiced fruit iced teas, cardamom coffee chocolates, stuffed dates, and local beverages, ensuring a culturally immersive experience from the outset.

The hotel boasts 134 elegantly designed guest rooms, including 23 suites, all of which reflect Najdi architectural influences. Featuring soft cream tones, intricate geometric patterns, and locally inspired artwork, the interiors create a serene and authentic ambiance. Handcrafted artifacts, sand-toned walls, and arches add to the richness of the decor.

Bab Samhan offers three distinct dining venues, each designed to cater to diverse culinary preferences. The signature restaurant, Jareed, showcases Najdi cuisine with a modern twist, utilizing locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Mediterranean flavors take center stage at Taleed, led by acclaimed Chef Michael Mina and inspired by award-winning Chef James Beard. Medheef, the all-day dining restaurant, features an open kitchen and serves globally influenced seasonal dishes inspired by the chef’s international explorations.

The Eathern Spa provides guests with organic, restorative treatments and wellness programs, while the fitness center caters to more active pursuits. Visitors can explore Diriyah through scenic running and walking trails or participate in curated activities, including guided tours of the nearby UNESCO World Heritage Site, storytelling sessions, poetry readings, and culinary adventures.

The hotel’s exterior pays homage to the region’s historical design, featuring mudbrick architecture, open courtyards, and intricate details inspired by local landscapes, including palm fronds, wildflowers, and sunlit mountains. The property seamlessly blends restored Najdi design elements with contemporary luxury, offering guests a unique connection to Diriyah’s heritage.
