BTMI & PM’s Office welcome Caribbean & Latin American delegates at Agrofest, urging networking & agritourism growth for regional advancement.

In a significant move to bolster regional cooperation and promote agritourism, the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) Caribbean team, in partnership with the Prime Minister’s Office, recently hosted a welcome reception for Caribbean and Latin American delegates attending the Agrofest. This event underscored the commitment to fostering business connections within the agriculture and tourism sectors.

Special Envoy to Surinam and Guyana, Alphea Wiggins, extended the official welcome to the delegates, emphasizing the importance of leveraging this gathering for networking and establishing valuable business partnerships. Wiggins’ message highlighted the unique opportunity presented by the reception to build a stronger, interconnected regional business landscape.

Graham Clarke, BTMI’s Director – Caribbean, addressed the delegates, stressing the intrinsic link between agriculture and tourism. He elaborated on how agritourism serves as a bridge connecting farmers and agribusinesses with the broader hospitality industry, including restaurants and hotels. Clarke’s insights shed light on the potential for agritourism to enhance local economies and promote sustainable agricultural practices.

Furthermore, Clarke articulated the reception as a prime example of regional cooperation, showcasing the tangible benefits such collaboration brings to the advancement of the Caribbean and Latin America. His remarks were not just a reflection on the current state of affairs but also a visionary outlook on how integrated efforts can elevate the region’s global standing in agriculture and tourism.

The event symbolized a step forward in recognizing the vital role of agritourism in the economic development of the Caribbean and Latin American regions. It also highlighted the proactive measures being taken by entities like the BTMI and governmental bodies to create platforms for dialogue and partnership among key stakeholders.

As the delegates left the reception, the message was clear: the path to a more prosperous and interconnected Caribbean and Latin America lies in the strength of its business networks and the willingness to embrace the symbiotic relationship between agriculture and tourism. This event not only welcomed the delegates to Agrofest but also to a future of increased collaboration and mutual growth.
