Boeing to strengthen its Latin American ties and focus on sustainable aviation at FIDAE 2024

At FIDAE 2024, taking place from April 9 to 14, Boeing [NYSE: BA] is set to showcase its wide-ranging offerings across commercial, defense, and support services, as well as its advanced technologies and capabilities. Emphasizing the importance of sustainable aerospace, Boeing is dedicated to enhancing partnerships and fostering innovation in areas of sustainability and operational efficiency.

Landon Loomis, Boeing’s President for Latin America and the Caribbean and Vice President of Global Policy, expressed enthusiasm about participating in FIDAE, a leading aerospace event that unites the industry from the region and globally. This event provides an ideal platform for Boeing to present its latest initiatives, products, and services in the commercial, defense sectors, and sustainable practices. Boeing will be located in exhibit Hall C, stall C6, and chalets B4-B6, highlighting its longstanding and impactful presence in Latin America, which spans over 90 years.

Boeing boasts approximately 700 commercial jets currently in operation across the region, offering a diverse portfolio of products and services known for their flexibility, reliability, and efficiency. This includes the Arajet 737 MAX, which will be on static display at FIDAE. The company projects a demand for 2,105 new commercial airplanes in Latin America and the Caribbean over the next two decades, necessitating 128,000 new pilots, cabin crew members, and aerospace technicians.

In the realm of defense, Boeing has played a significant role as a supplier in Latin America, tracing its beginnings to 1932 when it delivered the F4B-4 fighter aircraft to the Brazilian Armed Forces.The company has since provided a variety of military equipment, including VIP aircraft, defense systems, satellites, and UAVs, to the region’s forces. Key exhibits will feature the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft, the T-7A Advanced Pilot Training System, the CH-47 Chinook helicopter, and the ScanEagle unmanned aerial system.

Beyond aerospace, Boeing’s engagement in Latin America includes investing in education to spur interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers. The company supports initiatives like those of the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) to improve student outcomes and teacher training.

Additionally, Boeing will contribute to the IATA Wings of Change conference, happening on April 10-11 at the Sheraton Santiago Hotel & Convention Center, in Santiago. Loomis will participate in a panel discussing the collaborative industry and government strategies for achieving Net Zero emissions in Latin American aviation. Otávio Cavalett, Boeing’s regional lead for Global Sustainability Policy and Partnerships in Latin America, will engage in discussions on new technologies and initiatives aimed at supporting the decarbonization of aviation.
