The 46th Travel+ Exhibition and 32nd Budapest Boat Show commenced at the Hungexpo Budapest Congress and Exhibition Center on the 22nd and is set to conclude tomorrow. According to Máriusz Révész, Secretary of State for Active Hungary, Hungarian travel preferences have evolved over recent decades, with a growing interest in adventurous holiday experiences.
With 23 domestic and 28 foreign destinations represented across separate stands and nearly 150 exhibitors eagerly awaiting visitors, the event promises a diverse array of travel opportunities.
Mariela Modeva, adviser to the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria, highlighted Bulgaria’s upcoming inclusion in the Schengen zone, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on tourism. She showcased Bulgaria’s rich cultural heritage, boasting 40,000 historical monuments, seven UNESCO World Heritage sites, and numerous cultural reserves, monasteries, and museums.
Ernő Görgényi, mayor of Gyula, representing the national guest of honor, emphasized active tourism initiatives in Gyula, showcasing hiking and cycling trails, local castles, and the natural beauty of the Körös river and backwater areas.
Mihály Zalai, President of the General Assembly of Békés County Municipality, highlighted Békés County’s unique offerings, including thermal waters and culinary delights like Gyula pálinka (fruit brandy) and the Csaba Sausage Festival.
Adventure and active tourism take center stage at the exhibition, with a focus on cycling. The E-bike Test&Show, which debuted successfully last year, returns with a test track for visitors to experience electric bikes firsthand.
In addition to stage events, attendees can explore Festival Island and the Blogger Corner, where nine globetrotters share travel memories, experiences, and tips, fostering cultural exchange and inspiring new adventures.
The Travel+ Exhibition not only promotes local and global tourism but also encourages cultural exchange and adventure-seeking among travelers. By showcasing diverse destinations and activities, the event stimulates travel trends, enriching experiences for visitors and fostering connections between cultures.
