Cairns Harbourside Hotel Unveils New Tropical Packages Perfect for Weddings, Parties, and VIP Events

Cairns Harbourside Hotel has introduced a collection of tropically themed packages tailored for various special events, including incentive group dinners, VIP networking functions, weddings, and parties.

As one of the region’s most established hotels, it boasts a prime location on the city’s iconic Esplanade, overlooking Trinity Bay. The hotel’s extensive tropical gardens, including a ‘secret garden,’ make it an ideal venue for hosting colorful and vibrant functions and events.

The hotel’s events and banqueting team has developed unique packages that leverage the hotel’s picturesque natural spaces for a wide range of small to medium-sized functions.

The function spaces include:

1. The Garden Terrace

• Accommodates up to 80 guests in a versatile, leafy setting with views across the parklands towards Cairns Esplanade and Trinity Bay. Ideal for cocktail-style stand-up events or long table sit-down feasts.

1. The Secret Garden

• An intimate alfresco space for up to 30 guests, nestled among the palms. This secluded spot is perfect for small drinks receptions, stand-up canapes, or themed picnics.

1. The Patio

• An open-air space perfect for evening events under the stars and fairy lights, or sunny daytime networking events. It can host cocktail parties of up to 40 guests, with views across to Trinity Bay and its parklands.

1. The Deck

• A casual poolside venue surrounded by tropical gardens, ideal for alfresco events for up to 40 guests, with views of The Esplanade and Trinity Bay.

1. The Verandah

• A bright, all-weather space for up to 60 guests, adjacent to the shimmering sapphire-blue pool and overlooking Trinity Bay. This venue is popular for special occasion sit-down lunches and dinners, networking events, and cocktail receptions, serviced by the award-winning Harbourside Bar & Kitchen.

1. The Atrium

• Perfect for grand banquets of up to 120 guests, featuring a cathedral ceiling and atmospheric pendant lights. This stunning air-conditioned space, decorated with florals and greenery, adjoins The Verandah, offering views of the pool and the Esplanade.

The Cairns Harbourside Hotel’s creative functions team can also arrange spaces for break-out groups and after-parties, ensuring a memorable event. The hotel combines its outdoor spaces with four traditional function rooms, accommodating up to 120 delegates.

General Manager Glen Macdonald noted that following the hotel’s rebranding earlier this year, the team has focused on integrating Cairns’ tropical environment into every aspect of the guest experience.

“When event organisers are planning a function in Cairns, the demand is to bring the destination into the theming, and we are fortunate to have extensive tropical gardens that are perfect for incorporating into any event,” said Mr Macdonald.

“Even if groups want to use our more traditional interior spaces, we can make the event special by hosting lunches, dinners, cocktail functions and breakout sessions in the gardens.

“For weddings, we are a one-stop event space because we have Trinity Bay just across from the front of the hotel, and it is a perfect setting for atmospheric photos. The gardens – particularly our Secret Garden – also provide a beautiful setting, and our banqueting team are renowned for indulgent catering based around the region’s tropical cuisine.”
