California Hotel & Lodging Association unveils new leadership with 2024 board of directors

The 2024 Board of Directors for the California Hotel & Lodging Association (CHLA) was elected during its annual meeting held today at the Claremont Club & Spa in Berkeley, California.

Dhruv Patel, President and COO of Ridgemont Hospitality, assumes the role of CHLA Board Chair for 2024, succeeding Hee-Won Lim, Vice President and General Manager of Pacific Palms Resort, who becomes the immediate Past Chair. Patel will be assisted by Vice Chair Cormac O’Modhrain, Group Vice President Asset Management at Sunstone Hotel Investors, and Secretary/Treasurer Daniel Kuperschmid, Area Vice President and General Manager at Manchester Grand Hyatt.

Lynn S. Mohrfeld, CHLA President & CEO, remarked, “This leadership team embodies the remarkable diversity and strength of our industry. Looking ahead to 2024, CHLA’s leadership is dedicated to actively participating in local communities to overcome challenges and ensure the continued growth and prosperity of California’s lodging industry.”

Board Chair Dhruv Patel expressed pride in serving as the CHLA Chair for 2024 and emphasized the commitment to enhance community engagement. He stated, “To foster ongoing prosperity and amplify our impact as an industry, it is imperative for every CHLA member to embrace the challenge and actively address the issues of utmost importance to our hotel community.”

The board also approved the addition of Marina Dutton (General Manager, Irvine Marriott), Stacey Rivera (Vice President of Operations, Evolution Hospitality), and Tejal Sood (Managing Partner, Bayside Hotel Group) as new board members. Additionally, the terms of five board members with expiring terms were renewed. These members include Vipul Dayal (Hotel 1550 San Francisco Airport), Ross Gimpel (Encore), Tom Patton (Ramada by Wyndham, Santa Barbara), Joe Piantedosi (Park Hotels & Resorts), and Bobby Walia (Marriott International).
