Cancun is set to host their very first hot air balloon festival in 2019. Called “Volando el Paraiso: Festival del Globo” or “Flying the Paradise, Balloon Festival,” it will be hosted by the Pok Ta Pok Golf Club from from April 19-21.
It will feature 20 hot air balloons with certified pilots. The hot air balloons set are against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful places in the country, the Mexican Caribbean making it an awe inspiring event.
Israel Avelar Mandujano, administrative director of ‘Volando el Paraíso’ said that the trip duration would be 30 minutes. The hot air balloons will fly around the Nichupté lagoon.
Depending on weather conditions, the festival will also feature anchored or captive flights, when balloons rise between 15 and 20 meters (or about 50 to 60 feet) off the ground without going on a trip.
Domestic and foreign tourists will have to pay 500 pesos or nearly $26 to enter the festival, though residents of Quintana Roo will only pay 300 pesos.
Children who are 3.2 feet tall or under one meter, will be able to enter for free, making it a unique and exciting option for families visiting the area.
