A tragic demise resulted from a car accident in Barili, Philippines. The police are suspecting that it might have been a result of alcohol. 

In Sitio Tayong, Barangay Guibuangan, Barili town, southwest Cebu, a car fell off a cliff along the national highway, resulting in the death of a woman and injuring two Russian nationals.

The two injured are identified as Russian nationals Arcehob Akssenov Georgii and the driver of a Toyota Vios sedan with license plate GAP 3874.

The deceased has not been identified as of yet.

The head of the Barili Police Station, Major Janus Giangan, provided a public statement that the victims accidentally tumbled off a 200-foot cliff while they were on their way from Moalboal town to Cebu City.

The two Russian nationals were brought to the Barili District Hospital for treatment. However, the female passenger was declared dead. 

Authorities and the local community have expressed condolences for the fatalities, and the accident has caused widespread concern and mourning. In addition to raising concerns about regional road safety, the incident has prompted calls for stronger regulations to stop tragedies of this kind from happening again.

Teams responding to emergencies have been sent to the scene to help with rescue and recovery operations in response to the accident. To ascertain the factors that contributed to the tragic incident, law enforcement officials have initiated an investigation into the collision’s cause. In order to determine the circumstances leading up to the accident, the investigation will probably look into things like road conditions, vehicle maintenance, and driver behaviour.

Local authorities have, in the meantime, advised citizens to drive carefully and to follow traffic laws and safe driving practices when using the highways. The incident highlights the necessity for ongoing efforts to enhance road safety regulations, increase public awareness of the risks involved, and serve as a sobering reminder of the potential hazards connected with driving.

Police have said that the drivers were allegedly drunk, as they found three bottles of liquor inside the ill-fated sedan that fell off a coastal cliff.
