Kerala Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas said that the prospective of caravan tourism will be considered at Padiyur Eco Planet.
The minister said this after inaugurating the first phase of the Padiyur-Pazhassi ecotourism project at Padiyur at Kannur. Riyas said that wellness tourism is becoming popular in the European countries. Kerala will, therefore, try to make use of its potential.
Riyas said that Ayurveda is extremely vital in wellness tourism. Padiyur has a lot of prospective in this regard. Plans would be made for luring tourists comprising those from Karnataka, keeping the Padiyur Eco Planet in mind.
The plan will be carried on 68 acres which is part of the reservoir of Pazhassi Irrigation Project. The government has allowed Rs. 5.66 crore for the first phase of work. At first, the road from Padiyur town to the project area will be improved.
The Tourism Management Committee supervised by the District Collector would bein charge for managing the project.
K.K. Shailaja, MLA, chaired the event. Irrikur block panchayat president Robert George and Padiyur grama panchayat president B.Shamsuddin were among the participants.
