Gujarat Tourism is aiming caravan tourism to make the most of the Gujaratis’ enthusiasm for travel. This plan even coincides with the NRI season when many Gujaratis living abroad visit their home state. Gujarat tourism department is thinking to create a Caravan Park at three well-known travel spots of Saputara (Blue Flag beach), Shivrajpur Beach and Rudrani Dam near Kutch.
The department wants to make people feel comfortable when they are traveling to these places. Caravan tourism is a first-of-its-kind idea being explored in Gujarat. The department said that the Caravan Park/tourism idea is mainly focusing on NRIs and tourists looking to travel with the option of cooking/getting their food.
A Gujarat tourism official said that the caravan bus has been adapted where it can accommodate 6,8, 10 or 12 people subject to the size of the vehicle. It will be developed under the PPP model. The vehicles will offer deluxe facilities including a fully furnished kitchen, washroom and bedrooms.
The caravan will have television and internet, giving tourists the feeling that they are at home while traveling.
During night, the caravan bus can be parked at the Caravan Parks at the three popular spots.
The park at Saputara is getting developed costing Rs. 4 crore. The Shivrajpur and Rudrani Dam Park will see an investment of Rs. 2 crore each. The bus will be parked at the Caravan Park and tourists can get off at various visiting spots.
