Experts in the Caribbean and international tourism industry will converge to discuss “5 Ps for a Legacy of Caribbean Tourism Sustainability” during the Caribbean Tourism Organization‘s Sustainable Tourism Conference. This event is scheduled to occur in Grenada from April 22 to April 24, 2024, marking its return after a four-year break and aligning with Earth Day on April 22. The conference is now open for registration.

Participants will explore five critical areas: People, Planet, Prosperity, Purpose, and Partnership, aiming to initiate significant changes for a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable Caribbean tourism future. The conference, also known as STC, serves as a crucial platform for interaction, networking, and sharing insights among tourism ministers, industry executives, and professionals.

“STC 2024 promises not only to dissect the challenges but to inspire collective action towards maintaining the delicate equilibrium required for a thriving tourism sector,” stated Petra Roach, Chief Executive Officer of the Grenada Tourism Authority. “We look forward to showcasing some of the innovative projects that we have in our beautiful tri-island state which underscore the importance of protecting and preserving our natural and cultural heritage for the tourism sector and future generations of Grenadians,” she added.

The conversations at the Sustainable Tourism Conference will explore sustainability models and tactics for tackling critical issues like climate risk, minimizing waste, and narrowing the digital gap. This focus aims to harness technological advancements for empowering individuals, safeguarding the environment, and enhancing the competitiveness and resilience of businesses and tourist destinations.

This conference is a highlight in a series of events marking Grenada’s 50th year of independence, aligning with the 10th anniversary of the ‘Pure Grenada’ brand.

“Grenada’s focus on socially and environmentally responsible development makes it an ideal destination for the Sustainable Tourism Conference,” remarked Dona Regis-Prosper, CTO’s Secretary-General and CEO. “We believe that Grenada’s commitment to sustainable tourism and its beautiful, unspoiled landscapes will provide an inspiring backdrop for meaningful discussions and provide a compelling showcase of the destination’s sustainability initiatives. Join us in Grenada this April to be a part of this transformative conversation that will chart the course for the sustainability and growth of Caribbean tourism.”

STC draws participants from across the globe, including national, regional, and international bodies, partners in sustainable development, academic circles, students, and the media from regions such as North America, the U.K., Europe, and the Caribbean.

The agenda of the conference is packed with expert presentations, interactive panel discussions with moderators, Q&A sessions, specialized masterclasses, and focused break-out sessions on specific themes. In addition, STC offers immersive study tours, a variety of networking opportunities, and concludes with the award ceremony for the CTO’s Sustainable Tourism Awards. Optional pre- and post-conference tours are also available as part of the event’s offerings.
