In the midst of a substantial expansion of its homeport operations in Texas, Carnival Cruise Line has been recognized by the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce with the National Economic Impact Award. This accolade acknowledges Carnival’s pivotal role in driving the local tourism economy in Galveston.

Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, highlighted the company’s history as the first cruise line to offer year-round cruising from Galveston in 2001. She also emphasized recent growth with the introduction of the flagship Carnival Jubilee, the first new ship to homeport in Galveston. With the upcoming repositioning of Carnival Miracle this fall, Carnival will have four ships sailing from Galveston. Duffy expressed appreciation for the recognition of Carnival’s positive economic impact on the community by the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber applauded Carnival for its economic contribution, community enrichment, and partnership, describing Carnival as a catalyst for growth that stimulates business opportunities and amplifies economic prosperity in Galveston and beyond. The Chamber acknowledged Carnival’s support of Chamber initiatives, events, and the success of regional businesses.

Gina M. Spagnola, President and CEO of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce, emphasized Carnival Cruise Line’s exceptional commitment to national economic advancement and local community enrichment. She stated that Carnival’s dedication to fostering economic growth, coupled with its significant positive impact within Galveston, makes it a deserving recipient of the National Economic Impact Award.

The recent debut of Carnival Jubilee resulted in a $53 million investment in improvements at Cruise Terminal 25. Beyond introducing the first roller coaster on a cruise ship to Texas, Carnival Jubilee also marked the use of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in Galveston.
