Cathay Pacific has reassured its customers that flight services will operate normally during the upcoming Chinese New Year travel peak. The airline’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Ronald Lam, stated that measures have been taken to ensure the smooth operation of Cathay Pacific’s flights, providing reassurance to travelers heading out of Hong Kong and those arriving in the city.

In preparation for the Chinese New Year travel peak, Cathay Pacific conducted a review of its flight schedule and increased pilot standby levels to enhance operational resilience. The airline also implemented a consolidation strategy, focusing on routes with multiple daily frequencies. On average, six flight pairs per day were consolidated for the remaining months of January and February. The consolidation primarily targets routes where multiple daily flights are available.

As a result of these measures, Cathay Pacific aims to prevent disruptions during the busy travel period and ensure that passengers can proceed with their travel plans as scheduled. Any passengers affected by the consolidation will be contacted individually, with options provided, including protection on the closest available flights or a refund.

Cathay Pacific acknowledged that its operations faced challenges during the Christmas travel peak, resulting in operational disruptions and a limited number of cancellations. The airline emphasized that it has learned from this experience and is committed to implementing the necessary changes to ensure operational stability in the future.

In the ongoing process of rebuilding its operations, Cathay Pacific is dedicated to providing customers with more flight choices in a measured and reliable manner. The assurance of normal flight services during the Chinese New Year travel peak aims to alleviate concerns and offer a seamless travel experience for passengers.
