Following substantial internal and portfolio expansion in 2022, Charlestowne Hotels, a leading hospitality management company, is once again marking a triumphant year with noteworthy growth, numerous accolades for its properties and executives, and advancements in corporate structure and technology.

Kyle Hughey, CEO of Charlestowne Hotels, highlights the growth trajectory in 2023, marked by an enhanced footprint in the Midwest and college towns, strengthened partnerships with soft brands, and the nationwide expansion of revenue and marketing services. Hughey emphasizes the ongoing evolution of their corporate structure and the redefinition of their leadership model. The company has unveiled a revamped website, introducing new Vice Presidents and Directors, aiming to showcase their innovative initiatives geared towards delivering best-in-class service to their partners.

Among key promotions, Max Spangler, a longstanding employee, was elevated to the position of VP of Technology. The company also launched the “Rooms for Growth” incentive program, allowing employees to stay at any Charlestowne-managed property at special rates.

Hotel Openings and Development:
In 2022 and 2023, Charlestowne Hotels strategically focused on soft brands, adding two properties: The Memphian in Memphis, TN, and Hotel Marcel in New Haven, CT, the first 100% electric zero-emission hotel in the United States. Portfolio expansion continued in 2023 with notable additions:

Charlestowne-managed properties continued to excel, with three properties receiving honors in TripAdvisor’s Best of the Best Awards. Notable industry accolades in 2023 included recognition in Travel + Leisure’s It List and World’s Best Awards, Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, and USA Today’s 10Best. Top executives were also acknowledged, including Matt Barba, COO, in Hotel Management 40 Over 40, and Johnathan Capps, CRO, in Charleston Regional Business Journal 40 Under 40.

Looking Ahead and Areas of Focus:
Charlestowne aims to maintain its leadership in managing boutique, independent, and soft-branded assets. In 2024, the company plans property development in Charleston, Santa Fe, and Orlando, with a ski-in/ski-out resort rebrand and relaunch in Aspen, Colorado. Ongoing advancements in technology, F+B programming, and alternative lodging management will be key areas of focus in 2024, with further announcements anticipated in the coming months.
