Chile voted thrice as the best country for adventure tourism

If you’re an aficionado of adventure tourism, Chile might interest you! The destination has been recognized as the best adventure tourism country in the world for the third consecutive year. The award was given at the World Travel Awards, which were organized in Lisbon, Portugal lately.

 

The award ceremony was initiated in 1993 to identify excellence in all sectors of the tourism and is immensely regarded. Chile is an ideal place for adrenaline junkies, thanks to its amazing coastline of over 4000km along with a good climate and temperate water.

 

Chile is a paradise for those who love to surf, scuba dive, kayak and kitesurf.

 

Home to over 2000 glaciers, majority of them are unexplored, it’s possible to visit some of them via walks from Santiago between four and five hours. For those who love paragliding, the city of Iquique is a perfect place, situated between the Atacama Desert and the Pacific Ocean. Besides, the desert is the driest in the world, and it provides a tough challenge for the ones who are keen to travel across and its gigantic salt lakes by bike.

 

Also, trekking to the Laguna Lejía can equally be enjoyed in San Pedro de Atacama. It’s an outing where one has to climb 4000 meters and includes visits to volcanoes, hills and the impressive Laguna Miscanti. At the time of winter, the snow that falls in the central zone of the Andes Mountains initiates skiing, snowboarding, tubing and walking with snowshoes.
