As a consequence of the forest fires impacting the Valparaíso Region, Chile’s tourism sector has implemented restrictions in response to the tragic events that have plunged the nation into mourning. Despite this, authorities have assured that the country’s main attractions and tourist offerings across all regions remain operational and ready to welcome international travelers.
In the wake of the fires and as a precautionary measure, authorities have issued a special advisory to tourists, particularly those in Viña del Mar, urging them to exercise caution and adhere to the instructions provided by the national authorities in Chile. To facilitate communication and access to emergency information, individuals in affected areas are encouraged to activate ‘Emergency Roaming.’
Connectivity remains intact according to Chilean authorities, with domestic flights to both northern and southern regions of Chile operating normally. Nonetheless, airlines recommend that passengers monitor the status of their flights as weather conditions may prompt changes.
Under the banner of “Chile Takes Care of You,” the Chilean government has provided foreign tourists with an orientation guide containing recommendations for a well-planned trip, as well as advice on prevention, self-care, and response to contingencies.
