With an anticipated operational speed of 248 mph (400 km/h), the CR450 is a technological leap forward in rail travel, incorporating cutting-edge engineering advancements to enhance speed, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
Wang Feng, Vice President of CRRC Corporation Limited, highlighted that the CR450 represents a comprehensive advancement in train design, operational technology, equipment standards, and management systems. To achieve this unprecedented speed, engineers have significantly upgraded the train’s traction capacity, dynamic stability, and pantograph systems.
Among its key innovations is a water-cooled permanent magnet traction system, enabling greater energy efficiency and stability at high speeds. Additionally, the train features a next-generation high-stability bogie, designed to minimize vibrations and improve passenger comfort.
The CR450 is equipped with an advanced real-time monitoring system, comprising over 4,000 sensors that track critical components, including:
✔ Running gear – Ensures stability and smooth operation
✔ Vehicle body integrity – Monitors structural health
✔ High-voltage pantographs – Maintains efficient energy transfer
✔ Train control systems – Enhances safety and automation
✔ Fire detection mechanisms – Provides rapid response to onboard hazards

Additionally, a ‘beyond-the-horizon’ tracking system has been integrated, improving emergency response by detecting potential track hazards in advance.
A key feature of the CR450 is its aerodynamic bogie deck, designed to reduce air resistance and enhance energy efficiency. The train also incorporates sound-absorbing materials and an optimized aerodynamic shape, which help reduce cabin noise by 2 decibels, providing a quieter and more comfortable journey for passengers.
With its record-breaking speed, innovative safety systems, and superior passenger experience, the CR450 is set to revolutionize global rail travel. China’s high-speed rail network is already the most extensive in the world, and with the CR450 poised for commercial launch, the country is solidifying its position as the global leader in railway innovation.
