Recently, Constance Halaveli in the Maldives was awarded its latest green certification, achieving a remarkable 92% on the compliance scale. This accolade comes nearly a decade after its initial certification in 2014, demonstrating the resort’s unwavering commitment to sustainability. At the heart of these efforts are the Sustainability Champions, who play a crucial role in ensuring that Constance Halaveli not only adheres to but also advances its eco-friendly practices as it nears its ten-year milestone of continuous certification, approaching the prestigious Platinum status.

Situated in the unspoiled North Ari Atoll, Constance Halaveli shines as a beacon of eco-conscious luxury. With a forward-thinking approach, the resort dedicates itself to conservation, innovation, and providing a holistic experience that melds seamlessly with the natural beauty of this tropical haven.

The essence of Constance Halaveli is its dedication to creating a profound bond with its environment, offering a distinctively sustainable luxury experience. The resort’s charm is evident beyond its picturesque beaches, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the rich marine life, engage with the vibrant local culture, and experience the enduring traditions of the Maldives.

At the core of Constance Halaveli’s ethos is the True by Nature philosophy, guided by Shermaine Kong, the Quality and Sustainability Manager, and Andrhea Benamir, the Sustainability Coordinator. Together, they champion the resort’s sustainability mission across every facet of operation and guest interaction. This philosophy is built on four pillars: True People, True Experience, True Service, and True Place, defining the resort’s dedication to conscientious environmental stewardship. It’s a commitment that not only aims to safeguard the local marine environment but also to inspire conservation efforts across the globe.

In support of biodiversity, Constance Halaveli champions the protection of natural reserves and areas of significant biodiversity value. Diving enthusiasts are educated on the importance of these protected zones before exploring some of the world’s premier diving locations, ensuring the preservation of the diverse and vibrant marine life. The resort also offers Nature Guided Tours, designed to uncover the hidden wonders of the natural world, engaging guests with the island’s unique flora and fauna through fun and educational explorations.

Celebrating its recent recertification, Constance Halaveli prides itself on its comprehensive approach to sustainability. The resort has introduced specially designed T-shirts for its Sustainability Team, reflecting the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with an array of vibrant colors. This initiative symbolizes the team’s collective commitment to sustainability, aiming for carbon reduction and encouraging staff towards achieving a more sustainable future.

On the front of waste management innovation, Constance Halaveli has implemented the Food Intech Tech (FIT) system, significantly reducing food waste and CO2e emissions. This program has been successfully integrated into the operations of three restaurants and the staff canteen, showcasing the resort’s dedication to environmental sustainability.

The resort’s plastic recycling efforts, in partnership with Parley Ocean School since April 2018, highlight its commitment to preserving its pristine environment. All plastic bottles collected on the island are sent for recycling, ultimately contributing to the production of eco-friendly products.

Constance Halaveli’s spirit of generosity extends to the local community, with several social initiatives aimed at improving the lives of nearby residents.
