Kostas Koumis, the deputy tourism minister of Cyprus considers developing links with Saudi Arabia as important for assisting his country expand travelers visiting the island.
Koumis said that both countries fit in the same region with people having a comparable thought process.
The minister’s visit happened with the two nations getting ready to ink a memorandum of understanding
for encouraging tourism movements following non-stop flights concerning the two countries starting in March this year. Cyprus is keen to refresh its tourism sector after the upsetting impacts of the pandemic, with the island also witnessing tourist figures dropping due to the Ukrainian-Russian conflict.
Koumis said that he came to see the people of the sector, the travel agencies, the tour workers, for
offering them their country and trying to assist them, and also their struggles to encourage Cyprus for
getting the opportunity to greet more tourists from Saudi Arabia to Cyprus. He said that he is eager to
promote the market.
Regarding the scheduled MoU, Koumis said that it is about collaboration and travelers, and they consider
that there are a lot of causes for the two countries to come nearer.
