Airbus has been selected by Delta Air Lines to fulfill its requirements for modern and efficient widebody aircraft. The initial order consists of 20 A350-1000 planes, marking the introduction of this new aircraft type into Delta’s fleet.

Christian Scherer, the CEO of Airbus’ Commercial Aircraft business, expressed gratitude for Delta’s ongoing trust in Airbus solutions. Delta, being the first U.S. airline to operate the A350-900 successfully, now anticipates the addition of the A350-1000 to further enhance opportunities for the airline and its passengers. The A350-1000 will be the largest and most capable aircraft in Delta’s fleet, contributing significantly to its international expansion.

Ed Bastian, Delta’s CEO, highlighted the A350-1000’s role in advancing their international presence. The aircraft complements Delta’s existing fleet, offering an enhanced customer experience with more premium seats, top-notch amenities, and expanded cargo capabilities.

Delta Air Lines currently operates over 450 Airbus aircraft across all product families, from the A220 to the A350-900, with an additional 200 on order. The A350-1000’s operational efficiency, resulting in reduced fuel consumption, emissions, and lower operating costs, will benefit Delta once integrated into the fleet. Passengers will enjoy the Airbus Airspace cabin’s comfort, featuring a spacious and quiet interior, wide seats, high ceilings, and customizable ambient lighting designed to minimize fatigue and jet lag during long flights.

The A350 is recognized as the world’s most modern and efficient widebody aircraft, leading in the 300-410 seater category for long-range flights spanning from short-haul to ultra-long-haul routes, up to 9,700 nautical miles. Its innovative design incorporates state-of-the-art technologies, aerodynamics, lightweight materials, and latest-generation engines, providing a 25% advantage in fuel burn, operating costs, and CO₂ emissions, as well as a 50% decrease in noise impact compared to earlier-generation competing aircraft.
