Exciting update for those passionate about astronomy: Delta has announced a second opportunity to witness the eclipse from the skies, following the rapid sell-out of their initial special flight within a day. This additional chance comes with a flight departing from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) on April 8, destined for a celestial spectacle.
Scheduled for takeoff, Delta flight 1010 will leave DFW at 12:30 p.m. CT, aiming for a rendezvous in Detroit at 4:20 p.m. ET, alongside the first eclipse-viewing flight (DL 1218 from AUS to DTW).
The announcement on Monday, Feb. 19, about the inaugural eclipse-viewing journey led to a surge in flight searches from AUS to DTW on Delta’s platforms, witnessing an increase of over 1,500%.
To accommodate a greater number of passengers seeking this unique astronomical experience, DL 1010 will utilize the A321neo, a significantly larger aircraft than the AUS-DTW’s A220-300. The A321neo stands out as Delta’s top choice for eco-friendly travel, outfitted with 20 First Class seats, 42 seats in Delta Comfort+, and 132 in the Main Cabin, each featuring memory foam cushions to enhance passenger comfort.
