Delta continued its unwavering assurance to keep moving the next generation of aviators through the annual Dream Flight of the airlines and it’s backing this fall -Sisters of the Skies’ Girls Rock Wings event whole-heartedly. Delta’s rendezvous underlines its commitment to rise and enter into a more diverse and inclusive future for aviation.
Are you aware of the fact that there are lesser than 200 Black women pilots who fly for commercial airlines and the military – collectively?
With an immediate need for hiring and a vigorous diversity, equity and insertion of policy that requests for a varied talent pipeline, Delta in late October proudly sponsored the Girls Rock Wings event in Atlanta which was arranged by Sisters of the Skies. GRoW is a yearly aviation and STEM outreach program. It’s designed to expose young colored women of age between 10-18 years, to the field of aviation.
An active member of Sisters of the Skies, Delta First Officer Monique Grayson, led the planning of the event – noting that this campaign is vital for implanting a passion for aviation in young colored girls. Same sentiment many Delta employees share too as 12 Delta pilots and five employees from various divisions volunteered their time.
