Death Valley

California State Highway 190 stands as a testament to solitude, weaving through the expansive three million acres of Death Valley National Park. This route not only serves as a connector between Los Angeles and Las Vegas but is also renowned for offering one of the most breathtaking, awe-inspiring, and picturesque journeys in the United States. Along this path, travelers often ponder where to pause for essentials such as gas and food, engage in some sightseeing, or simply take a moment to stretch. In a nod to nostalgia, one can even send a postcard from a U.S. Post Office situated in the nation’s lowest census-designated place.

A highlight among rest stops worldwide is The Oasis at Death Valley. With origins dating back to 1927, this historic, mission-style Inn underwent a monumental restoration, reopening in late 2018 after a $250 million investment. The resort now boasts 66 beautifully modernized rooms, a refined dining establishment and bar, the new Tranquility Spa, and verandas offering expansive views of Death Valley and the Panamint Mountains. Its luxurious gardens, exquisite spring-fed pool heated to a constant 87 degrees, alongside a fresh pool café and cabanas, enhance the allure. The addition of twenty-two private, one-bedroom casitas elevates the accommodation offerings, while the new Mission Gardens presents a serene space for contemplation or celebratory events. Adorned with exceptional Western art and equipped with shaded, furnished outdoor terraces, the property ensures an immersive indoor/outdoor experience.

Complementing The Oasis, The Ranch at Death Valley, a family-oriented counterpart, unveiled 195 guest rooms and 80 one-bedroom cottages after extensive renovations. These accommodations are ideal for families and golf enthusiasts alike. The transformation introduced a mission-style town square, leading into a welcoming courtyard and streamlined reception. The revamped retail and dining options, including a vintage soda fountain and ice cream parlor, the 1849 Restaurant for all-day dining, and The Last Kind Words Saloon, stand as the vibrant core of the property, fostering entertainment and community.
