Monfalcone, Italy: Princess Cruises unveils Sun Princess, a new ship designed by Fincantieri, boasting luxury, innovation, and a maiden voyage set for February 28.

Today marks a significant milestone for Princess Cruises as it welcomes the Sun Princess, a revolutionary new class of ship crafted exclusively for the Princess fleet by Fincantieri. This marks a new chapter for the iconic cruise line.

Sporting a gross tonnage of 175,500 and a capacity to host 4,300 passengers, the Sun Princess stands out as the pinnacle of luxury and innovation within the Princess Cruises fleet. It introduces a plethora of groundbreaking entertainment options and activities, alongside a diverse range of opulent staterooms and suites. The ship boasts an unparalleled number of balconies, offering guests unrivaled views of the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas from the comfort of their rooms. Highlighting its innovative features, The Dome draws inspiration from Santorini’s iconic terraces, serving as an idyllic spot for relaxation, while the Arena! represents the next step in the evolution of Princess Theaters, equipped with cutting-edge technology.

However, to ensure that passengers have an exceptional holiday experience, the Sun Princess will remain at the shipyard for a short period to complete additional technical enhancements. Consequently, the cruise line has made the difficult decision to cancel the voyage scheduled for February 18. The ship is now set to embark on its inaugural journey on February 28 from Rome.

Passengers booked for the February 18 departure will be compensated with a full refund for their cruise fare and any pre-purchased onboard services. Additionally, they will be offered a 50% future cruise credit (FCC), redeemable on upcoming Princess Cruises voyages.

For those impacted by the change, Princess Cruises is also extending financial support to cover specific travel expenses, accommodating guests who had arrived early for their trip and those who have yet to commence their journey, including certain flight-related fees.
