Grand Bahama Tourism gets a powerful new boost as cruise visitors arrive in their millions, bringing energy to the island economy. Grand Bahama Tourism gets a powerful new boost as cruise visitors arrive in their millions because Celebration Key welcomed 2.4 million guests in its first year. The surge supports around 1,000 local jobs and gives Bahamian-owned businesses more chances to earn from tourism. Cruise visitors also spend on food, retail and cultural experiences. As more travellers arrive, Grand Bahama gains stronger visibility. Their millions of visits show how cruise growth can create jobs, support local businesses and expand tourism.

2.4 Million Guests Put Grand Bahama in the Cruise Spotlight

Celebration Key reached 2.4 million visitors during its first 12 months of operation.

Guest activity has been substantial. More than 500,000 visitors used the destination’s signature waterslides. Local food also became part of the visitor experience, with Bahamian-owned Mini Donut King serving more than 400,000 sweet treats.

More than 100,000 Piña Coladas were served during the year, while hundreds of Junkanoo parades introduced travellers to one of The Bahamas’ most recognisable cultural traditions.

Cruise Growth Creates 1,000 Local Jobs

The impact extends beyond visitor numbers.

Celebration Key supports approximately 1,000 year-round local jobs on Grand Bahama. Carnival says more than 80% of the destination’s food and retail businesses are locally owned.

Bahamian operators include Bahama Mama Seafood Pit, Flippin’ Fritters and Mini Donut King.

This local-business participation means cruise visitor activity can support employment and entrepreneurship within the destination rather than remaining confined to ship-based spending.

Accessibility Reaches a Global Cruise Milestone

Celebration Key has also achieved a notable accessibility milestone.

The destination became the world’s first cruise destination to earn Sensory Inclusive Certification through Carnival’s partnership with KultureCity.

The certification is intended to create a more welcoming experience for travellers with sensory needs and adds another dimension to Grand Bahama’s tourism offering.

Food Waste Programme Extends Into The Bahamas

The anniversary also coincided with Carnival Corporation expanding its Less Left Over food-waste reduction programme to The Bahamas.

Carnival Freedom and Carnival Conquest made the programme’s first surplus-meal donation in the country, redirecting prepared but unserved meals to community organisations on Grand Bahama.

Grand Bahama’s Cruise Tourism Story Is Getting Bigger

Celebration Key’s first year shows how quickly a purpose-built cruise destination can influence a local tourism economy.

With 2.4 million guests, around 1,000 local jobs, strong participation from Bahamian-owned businesses and a growing range of cultural and accessible experiences, Grand Bahama is strengthening its place within Caribbean cruise tourism.

Grand Bahama tourism is receiving a powerful new boost because cruise visitors are arriving in their millions and spending time at Celebration Key. The destination’s 2.4 million first-year guests have helped support around 1,000 local jobs, while Bahamian-owned food and retail businesses benefit directly from visitor activity. Cultural experiences, accessible facilities and community programmes also deepen the destination’s tourism value. The reason the impact matters is simple. More cruise visitors mean more exposure, more local economic activity and more opportunities for businesses. As arrivals grow, Grand Bahama can strengthen its position as a major Caribbean cruise tourism destination over time.
