Vicki Harrison breaks barriers, becoming the first female general manager at Dundonald Links, a prestigious Ayrshire golf resort.

Dundonald Links has officially introduced Vicki Harrison as its new general manager, marking a significant milestone as she becomes the first woman to assume this role at the renowned Ayrshire resort.

Vicki Harrison brings a wealth of experience in the golf industry, having dedicated over 17 years of her career to Loch Lomond Golf Club. During her tenure at Loch Lomond, she held the position of head of food and beverage from 2016 onwards.

In her new capacity at Dundonald, Vicki will take on the responsibility of overseeing the resort’s acclaimed golf course and its luxurious accommodation options, which are specifically tailored to cater to the needs of golfers. Additionally, she will bring her expertise in hospitality to enhance the offerings at Dundonald’s modern clubhouse, which was inaugurated in 2021. The clubhouse includes various amenities such as the well-received Canny Crow restaurant, an adjoining whisky room, a pro shop, and changing facilities equipped with saunas and steam rooms.

Vicki Harrison embarked on her career journey at the iconic Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh before taking on her first leadership role as head waitress at Loch Lomond. Following that, she served as the assistant restaurant manager at the five-star Mar Hall Golf & Spa resort. In 2006, Vicki returned to Loch Lomond, initially overseeing fine dining and events.

She now assumes the pivotal role of general manager at a venue that has undergone a remarkable transformation since its acquisition by Darwin Escapes in 2019. The esteemed holiday brand wasted no time in constructing a new clubhouse that befits Kyle Phillips’ highly-regarded links course, alongside its trademark luxury on-site accommodations tailored for golf enthusiasts.

Harrison said: “I’m really excited to be at such a prestigious and ambitious venue and delighted to have been given the opportunity.

“The potential that Dundonald Links has is limitless, particularly considering how far it has come in the last five years alone, and it’s a privilege to be a part of that journey.”

Ashley Pheasant, head of golf at Darwin Escapes, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Vicki to Dundonald Links and believe that her proven track record in hospitality makes her a natural fit for what has become one of the UK’s best golf resorts.

“Vicki has built up a vast knowledge of the golf industry in Scotland and has excelled in a wide range of roles across her career. We wish her every success in her tenure at Dundonald.”

Vicki Harrison’s first year at Dundonald promises to be filled with excitement, as the venue is set to host the Final Qualifying for the 152nd Open Championship in the summer of 2024.
