Egypt charting a plan for tourism growth

The Egyptian government is planning a route mapfor propelling tourism growth, said the Egypt minister of tourism, Ahmed Eissa.The ministeremphasized on the significance of the nationwide plan to grow tourism, which is an integral part of the economy in Egypt.


In this regard, Eissa underlined the upsurge in the number of flights to and from Egypt, as an attribute of the plan to increase the amount of visitors. He requested empowering Egyptian tourism businesses, operators and guides among other stakeholders in the segment.


MinisterEissasaid earlier this month that Egypt expects to witness 15 million visitors this year, marking a year-on-year growth of 28 percent. He also explained that the arrival of tourists in January and February amplified by 35 percent.


At the start of this year, it wasprojected that in excess of 52 million people will enter Egypt in the course of next four years. The study said that around 11.5 million tourists will visit in 2023. It is expected tosurge to 13 million in 2024, 13.5 million in 2025 and 14 million in 2026.


Hala El-Said, the Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development said that the government will fundnearly 300 million dollars in tourism during the course of 2022 to 2023. He stated that the number of tourists amplified from 3.7 million in 2020, which was the year of the pandemic, to eight million in 2021.Earningsincreased from 4.1 billion to 9.0 billion dollars, correspondingly.


Tourism signified up to 15 percent of the nation-wide Gross Domestic Product prior to the pandemic, consistent with official data.
