Egypt witnessed 28% increase in demand for cultural tourism products during winter compared to the same period last year.

Prices for these programmes witnessed increase in prices by 18% compared to the year before, with tourists’ average spending ranging from $90 to $115.

There is also an increase in the average number of night-time tourism activities, said the Committee for the Promotion of Cultural Tourism in Luxor.

Mohamed Osman, the Head of the Committee for the Promotion of Cultural Tourism in Luxor said that the increase in demand for the cultural tourism product along with increase in programme prices are due to the comparative drop in corona virus cases and relaxation of travel restrictions.

Restart of charter flights also happened from the Spanish market, which has 12 to 14 trips weekly, plus the strong comeback of the French market after disappearing almost ten years from the cultural tourism product, organizing around 8 to 10 trips per week.

Osman said that at the local level, 25 November 2021 became an important day in the history of cultural tourism, with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi witnessing the reopening of Luxor’s Avenue of Sphinxes.
