MGM Resorts International and BetMGM have extended their sponsorship of the American Gaming Association (AGA) for Responsible Gaming Education Month. For the year, the two companies have pledged to offer a combined $320,000 to support the initiative, focusing on programs for education, research, and support services for people who are faced with the adverse impact of problem gambling.

The funding will support research initiatives through the International Center for Responsible Gaming and increase sponsorship support for several state problem gambling councils. The contribution will also help expand access to the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline, which provides assistance and resources for people seeking support.

MGM Resorts and BetMGM are also contributing to the Evive Foundation, an organisation dedicated to improving access to evidence-based digital solutions and peer support programmes for individuals impacted by gambling concerns.

As part of the wider RGEM campaign, MGM Resorts will continue promoting its GameSense® responsible gaming programme across major sports venues in the United States. The initiative will expand its presence into Las Vegas’ NHL and WNBA arenas, while continuing to appear at selected NFL stadiums and MLB ballparks.

GameSense messages will be displayed through LED ribbons, scoreboards and other digital platforms during pre-game activities, encouraging fans and customers to make informed decisions about gambling.

Originally developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) and licensed to MGM Resorts in 2017, GameSense is designed to provide transparent, positive and proactive conversations about responsible gambling practices. The programme focuses on helping customers understand gambling behaviours, set limits and access support when needed.

For 2026, GameSense messaging will be featured at the following sports venues:

Through its continued collaboration with the AGA, MGM Resorts and BetMGM aim to strengthen industry-wide awareness of responsible gaming and provide greater access to education, prevention tools and support resources during Responsible Gaming Education Month 2026.

“Player protection is a priority every day at BetMGM, and RGEM gives us an opportunity to highlight those efforts,” said Rhea Loney, Chief Compliance Officer at BetMGM. “Through GameSense messaging in professional sports venues, employee education, and investments in research and support services, we are helping players access the tools and resources they need to make informed decisions.”

Additionally, MGM Resorts and BetMGM will continue expanding responsible gaming education among their workforce through comprehensive, research-driven training programmes. To date, more than 3,000 employees have been certified through the GameSense Advisor programme, equipping team members with the knowledge and skills needed to promote safer gambling practices.

The training initiative has also grown across the company, reaching employees from more than 45 different departments, including both gaming operations and non-gaming areas within MGM Resorts’ properties. This broader approach ensures that staff across the organisation are prepared to support responsible gaming awareness and provide customers with informed guidance and resources.

Stephen Martino, SVP & Chief Compliance Officer, MGM Resorts International, said, “What makes reaching 3,000 GameSense Advisors so meaningful is the number of employees who have chosen to take an active role in promoting responsible gaming for our guests. That collective commitment is helping us expand the reach and impact of our program across our company.”

In September, GameSense and Responsible Gaming Education Month (RGEM) messages will continue reaching MGM Resorts guests and employees through multiple channels, including digital platforms, retail sportsbooks and the MGM Grand Live Dealer studio. BetMGM Sportsbook will promote responsible play reminders encouraging customers to “take a time-out”, with QR codes providing direct access to additional responsible gaming guidance, tools and support resources.

MGM Resorts’ Las Vegas digital marquees will also display GameSense and American Gaming Association (AGA) content, encouraging sports bettors to follow the “Play Smart from the Start” approach and make informed decisions while engaging with sports betting activities.

The companies are also introducing several additional responsible gaming initiatives during the campaign. These include a research partnership between MGM Resorts and Carleton University focused on casino employee experiences, along with collaboration with the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling to host educational booths at MGM Resorts properties across Las Vegas throughout September.

Meanwhile, BetMGM will continue its partnership with EPIC Global Solutions, allowing employees to participate in lived-experience sessions designed to improve understanding of the personal impact of problem gambling.

Additional measures include targeted emails for BetMGM customers promoting GameSense resources, online responsible gaming tools and safer play information. MGM Resorts and BetMGM will also conduct guest and customer surveys to gather insights on responsible gaming awareness and launch social media and internal communication campaigns featuring executive perspectives on the importance of responsible gambling practices.
