It was disclosed by the City of El Paso that Frontier Airlines is set to introduce two additional routes at the El Paso International Airport. This development, commencing in the upcoming summer, is poised to provide travelers with direct flight options to Ontario, California, and San Diego, as shared by the City.

The inaugural service to Ontario is scheduled to begin on May 17, with the airline planning to operate flights three times weekly. Similarly, the initiation of direct flights to San Diego is slated for May 16, maintaining the same frequency of three times a week, as per the City’s statement.

Furthermore, the City has shared that this summer will also see the commencement of Southwest Airlines’ service to Chicago Midway and Delta Airlines’ introduction of an additional, third flight to Atlanta.

This news of expanding flight routes follows closely on the heels of Southwest Airlines inaugurating services to Long Beach, California, and Orlando the preceding fall.

The City elaborated that these forthcoming routes are intended to augment Frontier’s current offerings from El Paso to Denver and Las Vegas. While the Ontario route falls within the Southern California market, already accessible through Southwest (via LAX and Long Beach) and American (via LAX), Frontier’s entrance is expected to broaden the spectrum of choices available to passengers. In a similar vein, the service to San Diego, which is already facilitated by Southwest through daily flights, is anticipated to benefit from the additional options presented by Frontier’s service.

The introduction of these new routes by Frontier Airlines at the El Paso International Airport signifies a strategic expansion designed to enhance the accessibility and convenience for travelers. This initiative not only enriches the travel choices for El Paso residents and visitors but also stands to bolster the tourism industry in the region by connecting El Paso more closely with key destinations in California. As a result, the local economy is expected to experience a positive impact, reinforcing El Paso’s position as a significant hub for both tourism and aviation.
