In light of the latest COVID-19 related restrictions on Indian passengers arriving at the UAE, an Emirates Boeing 777 recently flew from Mumbai to Dubai with only one passenger. According to reports from Mumbai Airport the EK-501 Emirates carrier operated from Mumbai Airport to Dubai with the single passenger on May 19, 4:30 AM IST.

The passenger took to social media and shared his experience of flying all by himself. In the video documentation the captain can be seen telling the passenger that since he is the only person on board, the 777 flight is just for him. The UAE first announced restrictions on travellers from India back in April 2015, due to the massive COVID-19 second wave in the country. The ban was supposed to end on May 24 but has now been extended until June 14.

As of now only UAE nationals, UAE golden visa holders, members of diplomatic missions, passengers exempted from rules or granted entry permissions from officials and passengers travelling on a business flight with a COVID-19 negative PCR test result are allowed to enter in Dubai. Except nationals retuning to the UAE, no passenger who transited or travelled through India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in 14 days are allowed to travel or transfer via Dubai or any other place in the UAE.
