During the revered month of Ramadan, Emirates is set to deliver a heartfelt experience of unity and giving by offering thousands of special meal boxes for fasting travelers, both in-flight and at selected boarding gates. In addition, passengers can enjoy a curated selection of spiritual content and popular television series on Emirates’ ice system, along with authentic Ramadan cuisine in the airport lounges.
Ramadan Offerings in Emirates Lounges
Passengers visiting Emirates lounges at Dubai International Airport (DXB) can savor traditional Arabic treats, such as sweets, dates, and coffee throughout Ramadan. The lounges will serve an array of dishes including hot and cold Arabic mezze, lentil soup, and main courses like Arabic mixed grill with tahina, chicken kabsa with dakous and raita. Desserts will feature kunafa with pistachio cream, saffron basboussa, walnut kathayef with ashta, and Arabic coffee and date ice cream or baklawa, accompanied by a selection of traditional Arabic sweets and pastries. Prayer rooms and ablution facilities are also available for passengers seeking a tranquil space for prayer.
Iftar Boxes at Boarding Gates
Emirates provides complimentary iftar boxes at select boarding gates to assist fasting passengers in breaking their fast. These boxes include water, laban, a banana, and dates.
Announcements for Iftar Time
To support fasting Muslim passengers, Emirates employs a unique system to accurately determine imsak and iftar times during flights. This system calculates the appropriate times based on the flight’s geographical position. The captain will announce the onset of iftar, marking the end of the day’s fast.
Ramadan Meal Boxes In-flight
Starting 11 March, Emirates will offer nutritionally balanced Ramadan meal boxes to passengers across all cabin classes on select flights. These meal boxes, inspired by the Emirati heritage of Al Sadu weaving, will include a variety of light bites such as hummus with spinach and Arabic bread, tabbouleh with baba ghanoush, and sandwiches with Moroccan or zaatar chicken. Sweet options include almond chocolate or Arabic baklawa, with traditional dates and laban also provided. These special boxes complement the regular hot meal service.
Support for Umrah Travelers
Flights serving Umrah groups to Jeddah and Medina will offer Ramadan boxes, with passengers allowed to check in up to 5 liters of Zamzam water.
Entertainment during Ramadan
Throughout Ramadan, Emirates’ ice entertainment system will feature religious content in Arabic and Urdu, including shows like Rehlet Hayat and Ramadan Mah e Rehmat, as well as the Holy Qur’an. Additionally, over 6500 channels of on-demand entertainment will be available, including a wide selection of Arabic movies, TV shows, music, and podcasts.
Staff Awareness Training for Ramadan
Emirates provides its cabin crew and ground teams with Ramadan awareness training to ensure they understand the cultural importance of this month and can offer the highest level of service to passengers observing Ramadan.
