Ethiopia travel advice issued by U.K and Canada post state of emergency declaration

ethiopiaAfter Friday evening’s declaration of a state of emergency after the PM resigned abruptly in Ethiopia the United Kingdom and Canada have issued  travel warning.

 

In order to curb the rising insecurity across the country the Council of Ministers imposed the measure.

 

 

The United Kingdom’s travel advice was that on 16 February 2018 read as – Ethiopia declared a State of Emergency with no further detail  currently available. The travel advice will be updated as the situation develops. Those in Ethiopia should remain aware of their surroundings and follow the advice of local authorities.

 

 

So far, the Canadian government updated the safety and security button on Ethiopia. State of emergency: The Government of Ethiopia declared the state of emergency on February 16, 2018. Further, restrictions on gatherings and curfews could be imposed.

 

 

There can be disruptions in telecommunications and there should be media monitoring so   follow the instructions of local authorities, as per the advice.
