During this year’s English Tourism Week, an initiative led by VisitEngland, North East Lincolnshire emerges as a spotlight destination, promising an array of unique experiences from Immingham to Ashby Cum Fenby. As spring approaches, bringing with it the anticipation of Easter, the timing couldn’t be more opportune for showcasing the diverse attractions that North East Lincolnshire has to offer.

A newly unveiled food map, a collaborative effort between Taste Lincolnshire and Discover North East Lincolnshire, serves as a guide to the region’s gastronomic landscape. This map directs visitors to an assortment of dining venues, from quaint cafes and tea rooms to esteemed restaurants, each offering specialties ranging from the quintessential English afternoon tea to the classic fish and chips, covering all meals from breakfast to dinner across the borough.

For those finding themselves in Grimsby, a visit to Abbeygate and Freeman Street Market is recommended, while Sea View Quarter and St. Peter’s Avenue in Cleethorpes provide a plethora of cafes and restaurants suited for various occasions. Beyond culinary explorations, the region encourages visitors to engage with the natural beauty and historical richness through walking and cycling trails.

Cycling enthusiasts are invited to embark on the Fisherman and Ships tour in Grimsby, a 12-mile journey designed to captivate older children and adults alike with views of ships navigating in and out of the Immingham and Grimsby ports, estimated to take around 90 minutes. Alternatively, those preferring to explore on foot might enjoy the Immingham Pilgrims’ Trail, which starts at Immingham Museum and can extend into the Mayflower Woods walking route. This trail not only offers a scenic exploration of over 120 acres of woodland but also delves into the historical significance of the area, including its connections to the Mayflower Pilgrims and sites like the 13th-century St. Andrew’s Church.

In Cleethorpes, a seafront walking trail presents another opportunity to soak in the coastal charm, starting and ending at the Boating Lake. In line with English Tourism Week, local tourism entities are invited to the annual tourism event at Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway on Thursday, March 21st. Here, participants can collect the latest visitor guide, walk and cycle route guides, the new food map, and leaflets for local attractions, setting the stage for a bustling summer season ahead. This initiative underlines the region’s commitment to unveiling its hidden treasures, thereby enriching the tourism landscape and providing visitors with a multifaceted experience of North East Lincolnshire.
