With the new announcement of its tourism master strategy, Explore Waterloo region has prepared the
foundation for making the region a center for relaxation, business proceedings and a sport organizing market.

This plan targets visitor financial sustainability by 2030. It has become even more significant as the sector
struggles with pandemic retrieval.

Michele Saran, the CEO of Explore Waterloo region said that in the past eight months, they have been creating the 2023-2030 tourism master plan for Waterloo region.

Saran said that it is constructed on five mainstays, thereby making sure that they have a robust brand that reverberates with their target markets.

In 2019, five million visitors came to the region and fetched $557 million dollars in income.

Because of an 18 month hiatus in StatsCan data, the statistics for 2022 would not surface until sometime
next year. Nonetheless, Saran said that the association makes use of hotel tenancy facts as a representation for how the tourism segment is performing.

All through the pandemic, Explore Waterloo region advertised almost wholly to local inhabitants. However, now the focus has changed to attracting outside visitors to bring in new profits.
